Trailer: ‘Something Borrowed’

When Emily Giffin’s chick-lit novel Something Borrowed came out in 2004, every woman I knew was reading it, myself included. We thrust copies of the book on our uninitiated friends, declaring “You MUST read this.”

Something borrowed tells the tale of Rachel, who has one too many drinks one night and sleeps with her best friend’s fiance.  It’s not as tawdry as it seems, Rachel has true feelings for the guy. Latent longings + cocktails = disaster.  But it takes two to tango, so this book deals with the complicated love triangle between Rachel, her best friend (Darcy) and the fiance. Time Out New York dubbed the book “A contemporary fairy tale”.

The success of Giffin’s first book spawned a sequel entitled Something Blue (2006).  Now, Something Borrowed is headed to the big screen.  It’s trailer recently debuted, and you can watch it below.  Personally, I feel that Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin are well cast as Darcy and Rachel.  If you read the book, what do you think?  The film hits theaters on May 6.

I can’t wait for this movie – I’ve always loved the book and I think that this could be the best role for Kate Hudson since Almost Famous (and not just because the character has the same name as me!)

Also, really thought it was awesome that they used the song “Fireflies” by Search/Rescue in the first half of the trailer – hope they have more Search/Rescue in the movie, too. Does anybody know the song at the end of the trailer, though? Loved that as well but can’t find it.
