Adam Scott Is Magic
There are many good reasons for you to go out and watch Piranha 3D right now – it’s delightfully gory, it has some inventive and fun kill scenes and if you are a fan of boobies, they are as plentiful as the day is long. Also, my imaginary-movie-star-boyfriend Adam Scott is in it, and he is awesome. I don’t want to give anything away, but there might be a jet-ski and shotgun involved as well.
I have had, shall we say, a special fondness for Adam Scott for several years now beginning when I saw him as a guest star on one of my favorite shows of all time, Veronica Mars. Adam Scott played Mr. Rooks, a popular history teacher who is accused of sleeping with – and impregnating – one of his students.
Because Mr. Rooks is her favorite teacher, Veronica uses her expert sleuthing skills to prove his innocence in the matter. This was a one-episode appearance and in that short amount of time Adam Scott embued his character with humor, likability and the pathos of a man wrongfully accused – it was no wonder that Veronica went to bat for him. When she makes the discovery that, yes – he totally banged one of his students – I genuinely felt terrible. Like Veronica, I was heartbroken by this betrayal. Unlike Veronica (who makes a run for it when Mr. Rooks puts the moves on her) I was irrevocably smitten with Adam Scott. We were good as married in my mind, but – as the song goes - married in my mind’s no good.
Since then, I have kept my eye on Adam Scott and he has not disappointed me. Though he has a large body of work in films and television, most people will probably recognize him from his memorable (and hysterical) part in Step Brothers, but he has done some other really fantastic work.
I have loved his performances in Eastbound and Down and especially Party Down – a show that I will deeply miss. Armed with boatloads of talent, a quick wit, deft comedic timing and charm - the man has some impressive dramatic range as well.
I don’t know if you have seen the film, The Vicious Kind – it is an unexpected role for him and his performance is in it is so good – at times darkly funny and a little bit horrifying (in a great way). He has currently joined the cast of Parks and Recreation, a show that I already watch and enjoy, so I am excited to see what he does – I know it’s going to be good.
I could go on and on about Adam Scott and why I cherish him, but then it would probably get weird and the four of you who are reading this would get a little bit uncomfortable and no one wants any of that business. It’s better for me to leave you with Adam Scott’s recent interview from the Kevin Pollack Chat Show and let his awesomeness wash over you. Enjoy!
