Notes from a Walkman Junkie: Death By Music
This did not bother me nor shake my confidence in regards to my musical selection ( I was playing Electrelane; see: awesome.)
I say this not only because the woman who said it seemed to be a real ‘ass-hat’, but because music has always been a very important part of my life…not only in the pure enjoyment of it, but in an almost autobiographical sense as well.
I can recall at the tender age of six being completely smitten with the song, ‘All out of Love’ by Air Supply….(Don’t judge me, I was six and it really spoke to me) I was completely in love with Bo from Dukes of Hazards at the time and due to the inevitable fate of this doomed…..and nonexistent relationship, I was in fact ‘All out of love….and so lost without you….’ (Bo).
Please do not let my fondness for Air supply…and hunky Bo years ago dissuade you from giving Electrelane a listen. You may really enjoy them…or apparently, you may want to kill yourself….hopefully it is not the latter. I know that past music recommendations given to me have served me well (some more than others) but, the true musical gems make it all worthwhile. While my music tastes have drastically changed and I dare say…. improved, my visceral reaction to music and how it serves as a documentation of sorts of my life has not.
