Coming soon: “Flying Scissors”
Since I have started this blog, I have had the opportunity to meet some incredibly interesting people that I would not have met otherwise. One such person is Blake J. Harris, who happens to write the Tyranny Rocks blog that several frothettes frequent. Blake and I started talking about writing and such, and of course our chats eventually turned to movies.
Blake is a screenwriter and producer. His feature film Flying Scissors has just finished up production, and will be distributed by Dinosaur Distribution. It will soon be embarking on a college campus tour, followed by a theatrical opening in early November. I have never been on the marketing side of movies, but wanted to help spread the word about this film. As is the case with most independent movies, Flying Scissors will be relying heavily on word-of-mouth for theater bookings. It already is scheduled for limited release, but I hope to do my part to build on that momentum. In the next few days, we will have a tab at the top of the page that you can check periodically for updates on the movie. I will be printing the campus schedule and any other updates as they come to me.
I will not be reviewing the movie on the site (that would be perceived as a conflict of interest), but I have had the opportunity to view the screener, and it is funny stuff! Flying Scissors is a mockumentary that follows several competitors in the days leading up to a rock, papers, scissors competition. Think Best in Show meets The Office, there you have Flying Scissors. Please take time to view the trailer. If you know a theater in your area that plays independent movies, please forward the trailer to them. Hope you enjoy it!
