July 20, 2009

WalterCronkite1-799355Walter Cronkite earned the moniker “the most trusted man in America” over 19 years of anchoring the CBS nightly news.  His signature sign-off each evening was “And that’s the way it is”.  Cronkite was synonymous with integrity, and was one of the last true greats in the world of journalism.   He was monumentally influential to broadcast journalists everywhere.  He covered iconic events during his tenure including the first moon landing, the Vietnam War,  and the assassinations of JFK and Martin Luther King.

Most recently he was an occasional contributor to The Huffington Post blog.  He died on Friday, July 17, at his home.  Cronkite was 92.  May he rest in peace.
