Lucky bastards of the week: Journey

Talk about getting some mileage out your band’s catalog!  Journey released “Don’t Stop Believin” in 1981.  It is now the most-downloaded song in the itunes store that was not released in the 21st century. In 2007, it was featured on the season finale of The Sopranos, boosting its popularity again.

On Monday, the cast of new show Glee slayed a remake of the timeless rock ballad. It was an absolutely awesome finale to the pilot.  That version has been downloaded furiously since Monday. Yours truly finally broke down today and downloaded it off  itunes and I have heard it more times today than I will ever publicly admit to.  I usually hate this kind of stuff.  My ears start bleeding when my kids play their High School Musical CD, but I found myself strangely drawn to this diddy.

No doubt this will expose a whole new generation to the 1981 tune.  Like that song says, “it goes on and on and on and on”.  Good for Journey.  I always liked those goofy dudes. Especially the very sexy Steve Perry.  Wasn’t he dreamy?

"Only the Young" let their "Foolish Hearts" get broken by this lothario.

That’s okay, I can poke a little fun.  He’s apparently going to be laughing his ass off on the way to the bank for the rest of his life.
